There is no “one-size-fits-all” solution to providing professional indemnity insurance for such a wide range of activities, which is why our online quote system has up to 10 different insurance companies competing for each quote, to ensure that you get the best combination of lowest price and appropriate cover.
Why should you buy this type of cover?
Well mistakes do happen, which is best illustrated with a true story:
Back in the 1990’s a UK company decided to contact its wealthiest clients with a special offer, they employed a direct mailing bureau to handle the task.
An employee of the bureau set up the letter template and used a piece of generic text in the salutation as a place-holder which would be replaced by the client’s name when the mailing run was processed.
So far so good, all was ready and the marketing campaign was launched. At this point the bureau was hit by not one, but two bits of bad luck:
- The data supplied by the company was incomplete and some entries were missing the names of the customer.
- The bureau employee had, instead of the usual “Dear Customer” or “Dear Sir/Madam” and perhaps unwisely, chosen “Dear Rich Bastard” as the filler text in the letter template.
Result: an embarrassing start to what should have been a straight forward marketing campaign.
This sort of error can lead to lost sales, damaged reputations and large claims for compensation, which is where professional indemnity cover comes in.
There will be occasions, particularly with larger practices when our online quote system will be unable to find a quote, when this happens, we offer a full traditional broking service. We will submit your proposal form to a range of professional indemnity insurance companies and Lloyd’s underwriters in order to obtain quotations from the market for you.
Additionally if you are self-employed, you should give serious consideration to arranging public liability insurance as well, to protect you against claims for injury to persons and damage to other people’s property.
We can add the following extra cover to professional indemnity policies:
- Public Liability
- Employers Liability
- Office Contents
