Architects
Architects are required to maintain an “adequate and appropriate” level of professional indemnity insurance.
The Architects Registration Board recommends a minimum £250,000 limit of indemnity under a professional indemnity policy.
We offer professional indemnity insurance for all persons involved in architectural practice:
- Registered Architects
- Architectural Technicians
- Self employed consultants within architectural firms
- CAD Technicians
- Draftsmen
- Planning Supervisors
- Project Managers
- Town Planning and Construction Consultants
Consultants and Freelancers
We offer policies that are suitable for both firms and individual consultants and freelancers.
If you only work for a single registered architects practice at a time, then it is likely that your employer’s policy will cover the work that you do for their clients, you should check with them that this is the case and get it confirmed in writing.
On the other hand, if you work for several registered architects or if you do work on your own account outside of your employers practice then it is very unlikely that their policy will cover you, in which case you must arrange your own policy.
Additionally if you are self-employed, you should give serious consideration to arranging public liability insurance as well, to protect you against claims for injury to persons and damage to other people’s property.
We can add the following extra cover to professional indemnity policies:
- Public Liability
- Employers Liability
- Office Contents
Claims against architects and associated professionals are on the rise, often through no fault of the architect, it makes sense to ensure that you have proper cover in place to protect you, your firm and your ability to earn a living.
